1947 - Boomerang!
It comes back at you again and again!
In a quiet Connecticut town, a kindly priest is murdered while waiting at a street corner. The citizens are horrified and demand action from the police. All of the witnesses identify John Waldron, a nervous out-of-towner, as the killer. Although Waldron vehemently denies the crime, no one will believe him. District Attorney Henry Harvey is then put on the case and faces political opposition in his attempt to prove Waldron's innocence. Based on a true story. themoviedb

Ταινία σε σκηνοθεσία του Ηλία Καζάν, βασισμένη σε πραγματικά γεγονότα. Η υπόθεση του κατηγορούμενου που αθωώθηκε με τη βοήθεια του δημόσιου κατήγορου είχε δημοσιευτεί στο περιοδικό Reader's Digest, σε μορφή διηγήματος και με έντονο το στοιχείο της μυθοπλασίας και το διασκεύασε για τη μεγάλη οθόνη ο Ρίτσαρντ Μέρφι. Ο Ηλίας Καζάν κέρδισε το βραβείο των Κριτικών της Νέας Υόρκης για την Καλύτερη Σκηνοθεσία, όπως επίσης και βραβείο National Board Of Review. Αλλά η ταινία προτάθηκε μόνο για Όσκαρ Σεναρίου, εφόσον η προσοχή ήταν στραμμένη στη δεύτερη ταινία που γύρισε ο σκηνοθέτης εκείνη την χρονιά, το ''Συμφωνία Κυρίων (Gentleman's Agreement)" που κέρδισε και το Όσκαρ Καλύτερης Ταινίας το 1947. Την ίδια χρονιά η ταινία συμμετείχε στο Φεστιβάλ των Καννών.
